We want to express our deepest sympathies to those who died of the COVID-19. We also pray for the early recovery of those affected.

The Mt. Fuji International Marathon 2020 and 21st Japan ID Full Marathon Championship scheduled on Sunday, November 29th, 2020, has postponed the entry start multiple times upon examination of the COVID-19 situation in Japan and overseas. We have carefully considered the organization of the event with the resumption of economic activities and events in mind.

As the tournaments in which runners can exhibit their hard work have been cancelled one after another in Japan, we had prepared plans that to reduce the scale of the event to abide the various disease prevention guidelines.
However, we have decided that it is difficult to host the marathon. The event involves many local volunteers, and would be difficult to avoid crowds and close contact at the start line and water stations, as well as effects on traffic regulations and public sentiment, we have decided that it is difficult to host the marathon.

We apologize to those of you who have been looking forward to participating in the event. We would also like to express our sincere apologies to the stakeholders, supporting companies, and cooperating organizations who supported the event.

For this year’s Mt. Fuji International Marathon, the “Mt. Fuji International Marathon 2020 Virtual Run (online marathon)” will be held in November for runners all over the world. We are planning many projects unique to Mt. Fuji Marathon, to meet the expectations of runners. We will announce the details on the official website in late August.

Finally, I pray that the threat of the COVID-19 will disappear all over the world as soon as possible and that everyone will have a safe and comfortable day, and make every effort to make the next tournament a better one. I will continue.
Lastly, we pray that the threat of COVID-19 will die down as soon as possible and that things will return to normal, so that life with peace of mind.
